Virginia Medicaid’s return to normal enrollment process, or “unwinding” continues with monthly reminders to members via email, text and robocalls. Update contact information (mailing address and phone numbers) so you receive their renewal application. Members should respond quickly to notices/renewal paperwork and provide any requested information. Use your current Medicaid coverage and schedule preventive or delayed care appointments. For Medicaid members who lose coverage, there is 90-day reconsideration period where you can submit any missing information to re-enroll in Medicaid without having to submit a new application. To learn more about the renewal process, visit CoverVA.

Update from Virginia Medicaid: In March 2023, Virginia Medicaid returned to its normal renewal operations and started reviewing members’ health coverage to make sure they still qualify. The renewal process was paused during the pandemic; therefore, some members may be unfamiliar with this process. DMAS recently created a renewal calendar that outlines whose renewals will begin each month over the next year. Because the process takes 12 months to renew everyone, it may take several months before members hear from us. Members need to make sure their contact information is current, check their mail for their renewal application, and return any paperwork as soon as possible. Visit the Cover Virginia website to find more information about the return to normal enrollment process. If you don’t know your renewal date, you can call your local Department of Social Services (https://www.dss.virginia.gov/localagency/index.cgi), or Cover Virginia (1-855-242-8282) (TTY: 1-888-221-1590).
